Kardashev Scale

Infographic Poster
11.7 x 66 in.
2022

Curious, competitive, greedy for resources, and expansionist are the qualities of species that take over their home planet. The Kardashev scale, created by Nicolai Kardashev, categorizes civilizations into different types, based on their ability to extract and utilize energy from their environment. As I have always been curious about what extraterrestrial civilizations could look like, this theory presents an interesting thought experiment for me. I structure this infographic into four separate sections from type 1 civilizations (extract energy from their home planet) to type Omega (extract energy from several galaxies or the universe).
